Welcome to the new home of the Walhouts on-line!
Before my father passed away in 1999 we worked
on the Family Tree. This website is where this info will be posted and,
with the help of other members of the family, we should be able to put together
a reasonable picture of our ancestors.
For privacy reasons, when we get to the family members born
after 1900, you will be asked to become a member to view these items. We
will be restricting this information to family members only.
We start with Dignis Thomasse,
circa 1605. If you Click Here you
will find some pages with various information. The details are quite
sketchy way back there but we try. To see a complete detailed family tree
there is a Family Tree program here that we are
working on as well.
If you have any info that can help fill out this picture,
please contact us.
Question of the day: If any
Dutchies surfing this website know the meaning of the word "kleermaker" I would
appreciate hearing from you. It seems to be an
occupation for Jan Walhout geboren circa 1767 te Wolphaartsdijk. I'm
getting it, slowly but surely, one word at a time :-)
Just for the record: if anyone would rather not have their
picture posted here, please let me know and it will be
removed immediately, if not sooner!
Documents and Donations:
Much of the genealogy information on this website was collected
from on-line databases. However, it would be great have copies of the
original documents. Birth certificates, marriage registrations, etc. Some
of these have already been ordered and we are looking forward to receiving them.
These documents cost money. Please help us finance the cost
of these documents by making a donation. Just click the button below and
it will take you to our PayPal account where the donations can be made.
We will only order as many documents as there is money in this
account so the more you donate the more we can order and the more complete our
Family History will be.
We thank you in advance for your donation.
With your support this website can only get better.
If you have any documents that you would like
to contribute, please contact us to make arrangements
to send photocopies or scans for the website.
What's New:
New Genealogy info found - March 3, 2007:
This page
was discovered on the Dekker family website that has new info about Dignis
Thomasse. (They are spelling it Digenis) In case that page disappears
I've printed it out in PDF.
This page confirms the birth date at circa 1605 but the new
info this page provides puts his death at circa 1663 and that he was born and
died in Baarland. It also confirms that he married Leuken Jobs on May 18,
1631 but the new info tells us that she died circa 1671. (The women lived
longer back then too)
This page confirms our info that they had a son, Job
Dingenisse Walhout (they spell it with an e) but puts the birth date at Nov. 19,
1636 instead of Nov. 11, 1636 and that he was born in Baarland, Netherlands
(Holland) and that he died circa 1686.
They confirm that Job Dingenisse Walhout married Aagtje
Andries but new info for us is that she was from Baarland, Netherlands
(Holland).
The REALLY exciting new information is that this page takes us
father back into the roots of our family tree!
It provides the names of the parents of Dingenis
Thomasse. His father was Thomas Simonsz who died circa 1611 in Baarland
and his mother was Mayken Dignusdr and they were married circa 1600.
